A note from Dr. Weiss
I am thinking of you, I miss all of your warm faces and kind words. I miss your struggles and your insights. I miss being of service and being a support to you.
I long to be doing osteopathic treatments but the risk to you, me and to our families, right now is too great. I hope that in the near future the science will support a safe way to have close contact. But for today I am choosing to be on this side of caution.
Because of this, I have made the very difficult decision to leave my office building. I simply could not continue to pay the rent, in addition to the other expenses, while not seeing patients.
While I have left the office, I have not left my practice. I continue to work, and am available to you now in the following ways:
As always you can email me with questions or concerns.
I am available for phone and video visits.
I am still offering medical care such as prescribing, supplements, nutritional advice and wellness care.
As you know, there are lots of ways we have worked together and only one of them requires my hands touching you.
Before the pandemic I was exploring a paradigm for health care, I have named the Life Coherence Project. I¹ll write more about it in the coming months, as it takes shape more firmly. I mention it here to say it will offer us additional ways to work together.
I spend a good deal of time each day learning about this virus, and the implications to our culture. The scientific literature is expanding and I find myself relying on osteopathic principles in my studies – returning to examine how the immune system functions, and how the body restores health. There is still so much unknown, and so much emerging daily that right now the only thing one can really be sure of is there is a lot we don¹t know and we should remain in humility, open, alert and attentive.
One of many concerns I have is about the long-term consequences for those who¹ve had even moderate symptoms. It is unfortunately clear that this is more than just a respiratory illness that one dies from or recovers from. In both early symptoms and late stage acute illness COVID-19 can affect the nervous system, vascular system, kidneys, digestive system and of course the respiratory system and immune systems. Fortunately, osteopathic medicine has ways to support healing, in every system, regardless of cause.
I know that at some point I will have an office again and offer osteopathic treatments. And while today I am shifting myself around to face the reality of what is here now, there is a future ahead – it will be revealed.
Please write to me and let me know how you are. If needed, I am available for remote visits, but either way I would love to hear your questions, concerns, desires, hopes and ideas.
The magic in osteopathy is a part of my very being and I will find a way to bring it back to you. In the meantime, please be gentle and kind to yourself and those around you and think of me as a resource for your Health.
